The former Chad Prime Minister and the opposition leader, Suk Masra, has been arrested for suspected clash relations on Wednesday in the southwestern part of the country, a prosecutor said.
It is suspected that he is spreading hateful messages on social media related to the violence in which at least 42 people have died, said Oummar Mahahat Kedalay.
The Masra Transformers Party said he was “abducted” by military officers in the early hours of the morning “and condemned his detention, which was said to have been” done outside of any known court proceedings. “
Masra is a cruel critic of President Mahahat Debbie and claims he won him in the election last year.
Masra said his victory had been stolen by “people”, although the official results said Debbie had won 61% of the vote.
The collision on Wednesday broke out in the village of Mandakao, in the province of Logone Occidental near the Cameroon border.
“The messages were widespread, more special on social networks, calling on the population to arm themselves against other citizens,” said G -Kedelaye.
It is not quite clear what the violence caused, but a source told the AFP news agency that it was believed to be caused by a land dispute between the Nambay Community farmers and the Fulani flock.
There is an anxious recent model of violence between local farmers and herdars, with farmers blaming the latter in grazing animals on their land.
More than 80 others have also been detained in connection with clashes.
Masra briefly serves as a temporary Prime Minister of the Transitional Government between January and May 2024.
His party boycotted legislative polls last December due to fears about the transparency of the election process.
The Debbie family has been running Chad for more than three decades.
The military installed Debbie as a leader of Chad after his father, Idris Debbie, was killed by rebels in 2021.
