The controversial Kenyan Televangelist Gilbert Deja, who claims to have created miraculous pregnancies, died in a road accident.

Police have announced to local media that Deya has been killed on Tuesday night after his vehicle participated in an incident by university bus and another vehicle near the city of Kisumu in West Kenya.

At least 30 other people are reported to have been injured, including a person identified as his wife and passenger in his vehicle, and 15 students on the bus.

Deja, who ruled a church in London, rose in disgrace in the early 2000s, following his claim that he could help infertile couples think of the “miracle” babies through prayer.

Later, investigations associated his church with a supposed child trafficking ring, which led to his arrest and extradition from the United Kingdom about eight years ago after a ten-year legal battle.

He was acquitted two years ago for insufficient evidence.

On Wednesday, the governor of Sia County James Oreno said he had learned with “deep sorrow and regret about the passage of Bishop Gilbert Deja.”

He confirmed that the “horrific” road accident had a vehicle belonging to the county.
