The trial of Diego Maradona’s medical staff collapsed in Argentina after it was found that a judge involved in the case was involved in a documentary about him.
The judge responsible for the proceedings said the court process, which began on March 11 and is expected to continue until July, will have to start again.
Seven members of Maradona’s medical team were accused of negligent murder related to the death of a former football player in 2020. They deny the allegations.
One of the three presiding judges, Juliet McIntah, retired this week.
Maradona, a former midfielder of Napoli and Argentina, was recovering at his home in Buenos Aires from a brain -clot surgery in November 2020, when he died of a heart attack at 60 years.
Among the medical team in the test are neurosurgeon, doctor and night nurse. They claim that the retired footballer refused to have more treatment and had to stay at home long after his surgery.
If sentenced, they are confronted between eight and 25 years in prison.
Earlier this week, prosecutor Patricio Ferrari accused Maccanic of Behaves “as an actress, not a judge” After she starred in a documentary on the case.
As a trailer for the documentary series, called “Divine justice”, it was played in court, the lawyer of the defense Rodolfo Bake called “Garbage!” in the macitach.
Maradona Gianina’s daughter and his ex -partner Veronica Ogoda called after seeing the footage.
This is a violation of the court rules in order to carry out an unauthorized shooting and the documentary was filmed without the court’s permission.
After criticism of participation in the show, McIntah said there was no “choice” except to apologize from the case.
The process was then delayed in anticipation of the decision on Thursday, which in the end had to announce abuse.
From the beginning, the process had heard the testimony of nearly 50 witnesses, including Maradona’s daughters.
The date of the new process was not initially defined and the new judges were not nominated.
