The Trump Administration Is Turning Science Against Itself

Nonsense Jujitasu is irrational, but is it sincere? In some cases, it is hard to say. In others it is more likely that the scientific illiteracy provides a cover for revenge. This week, the Department of Commerce focused on climate research and canceled the federal support for the three Princeton University initiative. The reason described is for one of these programs: “This cooperative agreement promotes exaggerated and indescribable climate threats, contributing to a ‘climate anxiety’, which has increased significantly among American youths.”

Department of Commerce, you are so close! Climate anxiety among young people is something to look for. Asking them to close their eyes and hold the fingers in their ears when burning the world is probably not the best way to solve it. If you think their climate pressure is bad now, wait until half of Miami is under water.

There are two important pieces of the wide context. The first is Donald Trump does not believe in climate change, and so his administration goes ahead as if it does not exist.
