US officials are heading to Russia to discuss a potential ceasefire in Ukraine, according to President Donald Trump.

The news comes after Ukrainian officials agreed to a 30-day cessation after a long-awaited meeting with US officials in Saudi Arabia.

Earlier, Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that “the ball is indeed in their (Russian) court” and that the US believes that the only way to end the fighting is through peace talks.

The Kremlin said he had studied the proposal to terminate the fire and that a phone call between Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin was possible.

Following a Jeddah meeting on Tuesday, Ukrainian President Volodomir Zelenski said it is now from the United States to persuade Russia to agree to the “positive” proposal.

Speaking with Ireland Taoiseach – or Prime Minister – Michel Martin in the Oval Office on Wednesday, Trump said he had received “positive messages” about the possibility of ending fire.

“But the positive message means nothing,” he said. “This is a very serious situation.”

Trump did not specify which employees travel to Moscow.

However, the press secretary Carolyn Levitt told reporters in the White House that the national security secretary Mike Walk had talked to his Russian counterpart.

Earlier this week, a well -known source told the BBC that the Middle East Middle East Steve Vikof would go to Moscow for negotiations after discussions in Jeddah.

The White House confirmed the plans on Wednesday.

“We urge the Russians to sign this plan. This is the closest thing we were in peace in this war,” Levitt said.

The Kremlin said he was studying the proposed termination of fire and the additional details that spokesman Dmitry Peskov said he would come “on different channels” over the next few days.

In the oval cabinet, Trump said he believed that the termination of fire would make sense to Russia, adding – without further details – that there is a “very disadvantage of Russia”.

“We have a very complicated situation, resolved on one side. Quite resolved. We also discussed land and other things that go with it,” Trump added. “We know that the areas of the land we are talking about, whether it is withdrawing or not pulling back.”

To put pressure on Russia, Trump said he “can do things financially.”

“That would be very bad for Russia,” he said. “I don’t want to do it because I want to get peace.”

The Jeddah meeting was the first among US and Ukrainian officials after the February 28th meeting between Zelenski, Trump and Vice President J. D. Vance went down to a calling match and eventually a pause in US military aid and intelligence sharing.

The pause was canceled after the Jeddie meeting and Trump said he believed that the “difficult” Ukrainian country and Zelenski now want peace.

Even when negotiations on the potential termination of fire continue, the battles have raged in Ukraine.

Russian drones and rockets have been reported to hit Curve Rih, the hometown of Zelenski – overnight, as well as in the port city of Odessa, Denpropetrovska and Harciw.

The clashes also continued in the Russian Kursk region, where Peskov said the Russian troops were “successful” and seized areas held by the Ukrainian forces.

And later on Wednesday, the Kremlin said President Putin had visited the command post in the region. He was shown in footage issued by the Kremlin, who goes with his military chief Valery Gerasimov, with the two men carrying combat equipment.

He noted the first visit of the Russian president to the region after the invasion of Ukraine last August last year.

Russian media reported that President Putin ordered the military to “free” the region completely during the visit. He is yet to comment on the proposal to terminate the fire agreed by Ukraine and the United States on Tuesday.

The head of the military in Ukraine, Alexander Syirski, also pointed out on Wednesday that some of her troops withdrew from Kursk. In a publication in the Telegram messages app, he said: “In the most difficult situation, my priority is and remains to save the life of Ukrainian soldiers.”
