Three people were killed and 35 taken to hospital after an attack from Ukraine in a factory in Izhevsk – more than 1000 km (620 miles) from the border, Russian authorities say.
The victims had suffered serious injuries, said Udmurtia Governor Alexander Brehalov, adding that he had informed President Vladimir Putin in the attack.
The drones are reported to be aimed at the Kupol-Winner Factory electromechanical installation, which is said to produce rocket systems from surface to air and radar stations.
The plant also specializes in the production of OSA air defense systems and has developed drones, according to Ukrainian media.
A Ukrainian employee confirmed to the BBC Ukraine that two long -distance drones operated by the Ukraine Security Service (SBU) hit the dome plant from about 1300 km (807 miles).
“Any such special operation reduces the offensive potential of the enemy, violates military production chains and demonstrates that even deep in the back of Russia, there are no safe zones for its military infrastructure,” said the source in the comments reported by Ukrainian media.
A video posted on social media and checked by the BBC showed an explosion on the roof of a building, followed by a large black smoke helmet rising above the factory -type chimney.
The Russian Regulator of Civil Aviation Rozaviasia imposed restrictions on Izhevsk Airport operations before lifting them a few hours later.
This is the second Ukrainian drone attack against the Kupol factory in November – although this strike did not lead to any casualties.
For his part, Moscow continues to attack Ukraine. Over the weekend, Russia released a record 537 drones and rockets in various places across the country, including Kiev and the Western town of Lviv.
On Monday, Ukraine Volodimir Zelenski provided the award to the hero of Ukraine posthumously to the F-16 pilot, Lieutenant Colonel Maxim Ustimnko, who was killed while trying to repel the air attack.
On the battlefield while Russia’s advance to the amount region seems to have stoppedMoscow seems to be heading for the Eastern Denpropritov region. Definite reports in the Russian media suggest that Moscow’s forces took control of the first village in the region.
Two rounds of conversations aimed at agreeing to end the fire between Kiev and Moscow were held at the request of US President Donald Trump since May, but failed to produce tangible results.
Last week, President Putin said Russia was ready to hold a new range of peace talks, although he said that Russian and Ukrainian peace proposals were “absolutely controversial”.
On Monday, Zelenski again expressed skepticism to Putin’s intentions. “Putin has already stolen practically half a year since diplomacy … at the top of the entire duration of this war,” said the Ukrainian leader.
“Russia does not change its plans and do not seek a way out of this war. On the contrary, they are preparing for new operations, including in the territory of European countries.”
The American Senior Messenger for Ukraine and Russia Keith Kelloga echoed this on Monday when he wrote to X that Russia could not “continue to stop for a time while bombing civic targets in Ukraine.”
Moscow quickly stepped back, saying that she was not “interested in stopping anything” and thanking the United States for her support.
