US President Donald Trump and his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, will talk in the coming days as negotiations continue to continue to end the fire in the three -year war in Ukraine.

American envoy Steve Vikof, who met Putin on Thursday in Moscow, told CNN that he expected “there will be a call with both presidents this week.”

“We are also continuing to engage and talk to the Ukrainians,” he added. “We advise them for everything we think of.”

Last week, the United States and Ukraine agreed to offer a 30-day end to Russia’s fire. While Putin said he had supported the truce, he also sets out a list of difficult conditions for peace.

Vitcof said in an interview on Sunday: “I think the two presidents will have a really good and positive discussion this week.”

He also said that the teams of US negotiators will meet colleagues from Ukraine and Russia next week.

Vitcof added that he believed that the “” in the coming weeks “would be achieved.

“I really hope we will see some progress here,” he said.

During his election campaign, Trump repeatedly promised to end the war, which began with the full -scale invasion of Russia in his neighbor in 2022 at the Day First of a New Administration.

Less than a month after it was discovered, Trump called Putin, which was reported to have lasted 90 minutes to immediately start negotiations to end war.

Vitkoff refused to answer a question about how the land occupied by Russia in Ukraine can be addressed in a potential deal. Currently, Russia controls about one fifth from Ukraine.

The Messenger said Trump actively participated in the diplomatic back and forth.

As an example, Vitcof said that “within five to 10 minutes of his meeting with Putin, which ended Thursday, he returned to the US Embassy to inform Trump, as well as Vice President JD Vance, the head of White House Susie Wills and National Security Advisor Mike Walz.

“So the president receives real -time updates on everything that is happening and he is involved in every important decision here,” he said.
