US President Donald Trump is a new portrait of his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin – while declaring an existing picture of him as “really the worst.”
The new portrait is not publicly shown. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov described it as a “personal gift”, adding that Putin himself alone has the right to reveal additional details.
In the meantime, Trump has headed for his social network for truth to criticize a more outline photo of him, which hangs in the Capitol building of Colorado.
The US President paid great attention to the cultivation of his image and made titles in January, revealing an official portrait that was described differently by critics as serious or ominous.
Trump’s envoy Steve Vikof confirmed the receipt of the new job from Moscow, stating that he was asked to transport it back to Washington.
He described the work as a painting – a “beautiful portrait” by a “leading Russian artist” – but it does not give more criticism. Trump was “clearly touched by him,” he added.
The gift was confirmed by Peskov, as US and Russian negotiators sat down for conversations in Saudi Arabia as part of Trump’s desire to end the war in Ukraine.
The gift emphasizes diplomatic thawing between the two nations after Trump returned to the White House in January.
In an interview, Vitcof – who met Putin 10 days ago – said the Russian president was “merciful”. Putin told him that he added that he was praying for Trump after an attempt to kill him last year.
This attempt at Trump’s life – which took place during a rally in Pennsylvania – breeds perhaps the most emblematic image of it ever produced.
AP photographer Evan Vuchi captured the moment Trump, with a bloody ear, raised a challenging fist and told the supporters to “fight, to fight, to fight.” This image was further mythologized by Trump, who used it to decorate the cover of a book.
Trump is about to comment publicly publicly sent by Putin – but he left no doubt about the type of portrait he liked and did not like when he was delivering his views on Colorado’s image.
The picture, which was presented on the building in 2019, was “purposefully distorted to a level that even I may have never seen before,” he wrote on Truth Social on Monday morning.
This was unlike the depiction of the same artist of Barack Obama, Trump writes. Offering rare praise for his predecessor, Trump said Obama looks “great” in his own portrait by the same artist, born in English, Sarah Bordman.
Trump has been reported to lose up to 30 pounds (13.6 kg) during last year’s presidential campaign. He told reporters that he was “so busy” that he “failed to eat much.”
The Republican also uses a portrait to make a political point – the drawing of Colorado Governor Jared Polis, a Democrat, such as “radical” and “extremely weak in crime.”
But the portrait has nothing to do with polis, the US media said. Instead, it was the result of a crowdfanding campaign, which started from a Republican. The portrait has been reported to be assigned to fill the empty space, which is briefly filled with an image of Vladimir Putin by a joker.
BBC contacted G -ja Boardman for comment. Discussing her work with Colorado Times recorder in 2019, she admitted that “there will always be anger at a president on one side or the other. It’s human nature.”
Another portrait artist told the BBC that he would “paint things a little more different”, but that the presidential portraits were nuanced and he sympathized with the artist.
Robert Anderson, who created the official portrait of President George W Bush, who hangs in the US National Portrait Gallery, said viewers tend to bring “luggage” depending on their feelings for the topic of the picture.
For this reason, the reaction of a work of art often had “very little to do with the quality of art,” he said.
From Trump, G -n Anderson said, “I think it would be very difficult to draw it because it has a special impression on itself, which can be very different from that of many others – probably at least half of the country.”
A Polis spokesman told 9news that the governor was “surprised to learn that the United States President is a lover of our Colorado Capitol and his works of art.”
The statement continued: “We appreciate the President and the interest of everyone in our Capitol building and are always looking for every opportunity to improve the experience of our visitors.”
