US President Donald Trump’s administration has said it will overturn the temporary legal status of more than half a million migrants from Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua and Venezuela.

Migrants without legal basis were warned to leave the country before being allowed for work and a deportment shield to be canceled on April 24, according to a notice published by the federal government.

530,000 migrants were imported into the United States in a Biden era sponsorship, known as CHNV, which is intended to open legal migration pathways. Trump stopped the program after taking office.

It is unclear how many of these migrants have been able to secure another status, in the meantime, which would allow them to stay in the United States legally.

The program was launched with Democrats President Joe Biden in 2022, for the first time covering the Venezuelans before being expanded to other countries.

This allowed migrants and their close family members to fly in the United States if they have US sponsors and remain under temporary immigration status known as conditional release.

The Biden administration claims that CHNV will help limit illegal border crossings at the southern border of the United States.

But the Ministry of Interior Security on Friday accused the previous administration of lied to America.

The agency’s statement said that Biden’s employees “provide them with (migrants) opportunities to compete for American jobs and to undermine US workers; they forced career government officials to promote programs, even when they were identified frauds and then blamed Republicans in the congress.

However, the 35 -page notice in the Federal Register says some of those in the US under CHNV may be allowed to remain on “each case”.

Trump is also considering setting up the temporary legal status of about 240,000 Ukrainians who fled to the United States during the conflict with Russia.
