Watch: Trump says he is not looking to serve a third term

US President Donald Trump has denied that he is considering a third presidential term, a move that experts agree to be banned under the US Constitution.

“I will be an eight -year -old president, I will be a two -time president. I always thought it was very important,” Trump told NBC Meet the Press with Kristen Welker in an interview that aired on Sunday.

The 78 -year -old Trump said he was “not joking” that he wanted to serve third or even a fourth, as president of the United States.

Later, he said his statements were intended to troll “fake news media.”

His company, the Trump organization, sells Trump 2028 hats, nourishing the armchair’s speculation that he could seek to stay in office after his second term ended in January 2029.

In an interview recorded by his Florida residence on Friday, Trump said he had many “requests” of people who want to think to strive to stay in office.

“So many people want to do it,” Trump said, just days after celebrating his first 100 days of his second term.

“This is something that, as far as I know, is not allowed. I do not know if it is constitutional that they do not allow you to do it or something else,” Trump said.

He added that “there are many people selling the 2028 hat.”

“But this is not something I want to do,” he said, continued to list the Republicans who could take his place, including Vice President JD Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio.

The 22 amendment to the Constitution says that “no person can be elected to the president’s post more than twice.”

The change of the Constitution will require approval of two -thirds from both the Senate and the House of Representatives, as well as approval of three quarters of the governments at the state level of the country.

However, some Trump supporters suggest that the constitution has a door that is unverified in court.

Asked by the NBC if anyone turned to him with these theories, Trump has diverted, answering that “in the capacity to be a great fan, many people have said different things.”

Tariff “Transitional period”

During the interview, Trump also rejected criticism of his work with the economy.

“Look, yes. It’s all right,” he said, after his tariff plan digs international economies, leading The US economy to shrink for the first time since 2022.

“I said it was a transitional period. I think we’ll do it fantastically,” he added.

Asked if the American economy can continue to shrink, he replied: “Everything can happen. But I think we will have the biggest economy in our country’s history.”

Later, he added that the tariffs are likely to be constant, telling the interviewer: “If anyone thinks they will get off the table, why will they build in the United States?”

Trump also denied that Americans would have to prepare to see a fewer goods for sale in stores as the trade war continues.

“No, I’m not saying that. I’m just saying they don’t have to have 30 dolls. They can have three,” he said.

“They don’t have to have 250 pencils. They can have five.”

Watch: Trump says,

He questioned his role as a proper process

Trump was asked about the right of the fifth amendment to a proper process under the law, which guarantees certain rights of people accused of committing a crime.

Critics said his deportment plan had violated this process and that his administration had removed people who had not yet been charged with a crime and therefore did not have the opportunity to submit legal protection.

“Isn’t it the need to maintain the United States Constitution as President?” Welker asked, suggesting that he could ignore the presidential oath that he requires him to “preserve, defend and defend the Constitution.”

Trump replied, “I don’t know. I have to answer, saying, again, I have brilliant lawyers who work for me, and they will obviously follow what the Supreme Court said.”

Last month, the Supreme Court ruled that the White House should work to “facilitate” the return of a migrant, who was accidentally deported to El Salvador prison. The Trump administration claims that they lack the power to force the Central American country to return it to the United States.

Trump does not see using military against Canada

Trump said he could not “exclude” using a military force to apply Greenland, but suggested that he was not considering a military attack on Canada to force northern the United States to become the 51st US state.

“I don’t see it with Canada,” Trump said, days after Canadian voters chose Liberal Party leader Mark Carney as their Prime Ministerin the stunning rejection of the Conservative Party.

“They think we will protect them and we really are,” Trump continued.

“But the truth is that they do not carry their full share and it is unfair to the United States and our taxpayers.”

Carney is planned to visit Trump in the White House on Tuesday.

Protects the Emergency Immigration Declaration

Trump was also asked about his decision to declare a state of immigration on his first day of service and whether the border is already “secure”.

“We have the most secure limit we have ever had,” he said, making Welker questioned why the emergency declaration remains in force after immigration data shows that illegal crossings have fallen to the largest levels of decades.

He claims that the emergency is in the judicial system, not on the border.

“The big emergency situation right now is that we have thousands of people we want to take out. We have some judges who want everyone to go to court,” he said.

“This is a complete emergency situation in immigration,” Trump told the NBC, adding that there are no plans to raise the order in the near future.
