Writing on his social media platform TRUTH SOCIAL, Trump said the call was aimed at aligning Ukraine and Russia with regard to their requests and needs, “adding that the efforts to end fire were on the way.

Both Zelenski and Russian President Vladimir Putin have said they will agree to stop attacks against energy infrastructure. Since then, both sides have been blamed for continuing attacks.

Trump is looking for a broader truce, but in a telephone call with him on Tuesday, Putin immediately rejected a 30-day termination of the fire of land, air and sea, supported by the US and Ukraine.

Meanwhile, Kyiv and Moscow have exchanged prisoners. Each country released 175 prisoners of war.

Zelenski described the swap as “one of the largest”, adding that Russia includes an additional 22 “seriously injured” soldiers.

Trump said the Call on Wednesday with Zelenski lasted about an hour.

“Much of the discussion was based on the call made yesterday with President Putin to bring himself in accordance with Russia and Ukraine with regard to their requests and needs,” he wrote in Truth Social.

“We’re very on the road,” he added.

The short Secretary of State Marco Rubio issued a more detailed statement, saying Trump has agreed to help Ukraine a source of additional air defense systems, especially in Europe.

Technical teams will meet in Saudi Arabia in the coming days to discuss the expansion of fire to the Black Sea, Rubio added, saying that it agreed that this could be the first step towards a complete termination of the war.

Trump also offered us help in the management of Ukraine’s power plants, adding that US property will be the “best protection” for Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, Rubio said.

Zelenski also commented, describing the conversation as “positive”, “Frank” and “very significant”.

“We agreed that Ukraine and the United States must continue to work together to reach a real end to war and lasting peace,” he said.

Trump has been talking to Putin for two hours on the phone on Tuesday, in which the Russian leader agreed to stop attacks on energy infrastructure.

But he said that the complete cessation of fire would only work if the allies of Ukraine cease to provide military assistance – a condition that the European allies of Ukraine had previously rejected.

Hours later, both Ukraine and Russia began attacks, with Kiev saying that hospitals were directed.

Officials in the southern Russian Krasnodar region said the Ukrainian drone attack caused a small fire at an oil depot.
