A MP from Lesoto has been brought before criminal charges after accusing the country’s monarch and the government of signing control over the Lesoto of its much more neighbor, South Africa.
Dr. Tshepo Lipholo is also against charges of “violating the dignity and reputation” of the royal family, declaring himself the chief ruler of the country of the unforgetties.
He is reported that he appeared in court on Monday to apply for a guarantee, but this was postponed on a later date this month.
The opposition MP has before that he calls for parts of South Africa to be declared a “territory of Lesoto” and wants them to return to the control of Lesoto,
Among them is the free country, one of the three South African provinces who share the border with the small South African nation. Dr. Lipholo also claims parts of north cape, mpumalanga, east nose and kwazulu-natal.
The people of the Lesoto, called the Basso, lived in these areas until the 19th century when they were seized by Africani – white South Africans. Many still live there, especially the free country.
In the accusation sheet that the BBC has seen, the state accuses the legislator of “saying sedative words” and “incitement to public violence”, saying that King flies III and the government have “signed (above) the Lesoto to become the 10th South African province.”
It is alleged that these remarks were made between April and June 2025 on various social media and radio interview platforms, according to the state.
He is also accused of being declared the primary head of Basutland, the country’s colonial name, despite the presence of the King.
An employee of the retired army, Major General Samuel Macoro, was also arrested on Friday for being claimed to have supported G -n Lipholo and provides him with sensitive information.
Dr. Lipholo is the leader of the Basotho Covenant (BCM) movement, which has one place in parliament.
His proposal, which was previously discussed in Lesoto’s parliament, was based on a 1962 UN resolution, which has recognized the right to self-determination and independence for Basutland people.
The view from South African officials is that the proposal to restore territories some opinion of the base as theirs has no chance of happening because it does not enjoy the support of the majority in Lesoto.
One of the key obstacles is Cairo’s statement of 1964 about the organization of the African unity, now the African Union, where the African leaders have agreed to recognize the existing boundaries of their newly dependent countries, even if they have been drawn from the colonial forces with a small relevant to where they lived in the place to live.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in South Africa confirmed this opinion in response to a question in parliament earlier this year.
Early D -R BIGH had told the Lesoto media that it also hoped the proposal would be discussed in the British Parliament, “since the United Kingdom gave its independence in 1966 without adjusting the borders seized by the African.”
According to a source, his legal team was given until July 25, 2025 to argue for a guarantee. He remains in custody.
