Ukraine hits the Russian nuclear object as Kyiv celebrates Independence Day

Russia has accused the Ukrainian attacks of a fire for fire in a nuclear power plant in the West Kursk area, saying several Russian energy and energy facilities have been directed overnight.

The UK government also said the Ukrainian flags would appear over Downing Street in recognition of the anniversary.

The Ministry of Defense has confirmed that British military experts will continue to train Ukrainian soldiers until the end of 2026 with the extension of the interflex operation – the code name given to the UK training program for Ukrainian recruits.

Norway announced on Sunday that it would contribute about £ 7 billion ($ 514 million; $ 693 million) air defense systems in Ukraine.

“Together with Germany, we now guarantee that Ukraine receives powerful air defense systems,” Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr said in a statement.

Both countries fund two patriotic systems, including missiles, with Norway also helping to buy an air defense radar.

On Saturday, Russia said its forces in Eastern Ukraine had seized two villages in the Donetsk region.

Russian forces are progressing very slowly and at a great price in Eastern Ukraine and now controls about 20% of Ukraine’s territory.

A full -scale invasion of Ukraine started from Russia in February 2022.

This month there was an intensive diplomacy during the war, with US President Donald Trump met with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin in Alaska on August 15.

The summit was charged as a vital step towards peace in Ukraine. However, although both leaders claim that negotiations have been successful, Trump has since shown publicly increasing frustration with the lack of a peaceful deal between Russia and Ukraine.

The US President said he was considering either to hit Russia with additional economic sanctions or to move away from peace talks.

“I will decide what we are doing and will be, it will be a very important solution. This is whether it is massive sanctions or massive rates or both, or do we do nothing and we say that this is your battle,” Trump said on Friday.

Zelenski repeatedly calls for unconditional cessation of fire and his European allies also demand a stop in the fight.

He accused Russia of “doing everything possible” to prevent a meeting with Putin to try to end the war.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said Putin is ready to meet with Ukraine’s leader, “when the agenda is ready for a summit and this program is not ready at all”, accusing Zelenski of saying “not everything.”
