ReutersThe Trump administration has deported another 17 alleged gang members in El Salvador, the US State Department said, despite legal battles to abolish people in prison in Supermax in Central America.
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said the group includes members of the Tren de Aragua gangs and MS-13.
Salvadorant government officials told the BBC that they were involving a combination of Venezuelans and Salvadoran.
Earlier this month, the court ordered the suspension of the deportations committed under the Law on Enemies of Alien enemies, a law of 1798, previously used only in wartime. However, the US media, citing sources of administration, reports that recent deportations have been made under general immigration laws.
In a statement, Rubio said the group included “killers and rape” but did not provide names or details of the alleged crimes or any sentence.
In an X publication, President of El Salvador Naib Boukele shared a dramatically edited video showing that the chained men were loaded by an airplane and their heads were shaved before being placed in prison cells.
“All persons have been confirmed killers and violators of high -profile, including six children’s rapes,” he writes. “This operation is another step in the fight against terrorism and organized crime.”
President Trump has sent the message, accused the administration of his predecessor Joe Biden for admitting deported to the US and thanked the bouquet for “giving such a wonderful place to live.”
El Salvador agreed to take $ 6 million deported in exchange for $ 4.6 million).
The family members of some of those who had previously been sent to prison for maximum security have denied that they have links with bands.
After Trump referred to the Law on Alien enemies to remove more than 100 Venezuelans from the United States earlier this month, groups, including the US Civil Freedom Union, filed a legal challenge stating that the administration had illegally refused immigrants.
At a hearing on March 15, James Boasberg, the best federal judge in Washington, imposed a temporary restraining order for the use of the law and ordered the deportment flights that were in the air to be turned.
But the deportations continued. The next hearing in the case will be held on Thursday.
