Carlos Alkaraz says it is “here to entertain” after creating another brilliant performance to beat Giri Leheka and reach the US Open semifinals.
The Spaniard took less than two hours to beat the Czech 6-4 6-2 6-4 at Arthur Asha Stadium in New York.
The five -time Grand Slam winner defined an early marker by interrupting the World Number 21 Lehecka in the opening game and showing a laser focus throughout the game.
But Alkaraz still found time to show up during the victory, exciting the crowd with his amazing repertoire from a shot.
“Sometimes I play a frame that I don’t have to play at this moment, but this is the way I like to play tennis,” said the 22 -year -old Alkara, in front of Sky Sports.
“I want to play solid, play well and play smart, but at the same time when I have the opportunity to play a great frame – or a hot shot, let’s say – why not?
“I’m here to entertain people, myself and the team.”
Alka’s second seed will face either the fourth seeds of Taylor Fritz or a 24-time Grand Slam champion Novak Djokovic for a place in the final.
