The Venezuelan opposition activist, who was arrested during anti -government protests in January, died in prison, his party said.
Realdo Araujo, the leader of the Versuela party in Trujilo, suffered from health problems that his wife told him were not treated while in prison.
Venture Venezuela leader Maria Corina Machado said she had kept Nicolas Maduro’s “regime” responsible for Araujo’s death.
According to the NGO as an Observatory of the Venezuela prison, 20 political prisoners have died while in custody for the past few years.
Venture Venezuela said Araujo was seized by masked men on January 9 during a protest on the eve of swearing in Nicolas Maduro for a third term as president.
His wife told him that he was returning from a medical meeting and just watched the protest when he was taken.
He has been in custody since.

His wife accuses the authorities of not providing her husband with medical attention until it was too late, although she warned them that his health had deteriorated.
The head of the Regional Body Organization of US States (OAS), Luis Almagro, denied the death of Araujo, wrote to X that it was a “new regime” atrocity.
He added: “There are no more political prisoners, no more torture, no more death.”
Almagro is a candid critic of Nicholas Maduro, accusing the Venezuelan leader of oppressing the opposition on the eve and the consequences of the July presidential election.
Venezuela’s National Election Board (CNE), a body closely brought to the government, announced Maduro as the election winner without providing detailed votes to support their request.
The OAS selective monitoring department said it could not recognize the result, as CNE “was” addicted to the government “.
Venezuela’s opposition coalition also declined to acknowledge the result, saying that the vote of the waist she had collected with the help of official election observers showed that her candidate Edmundo Gonzalez was the prevailing winner.
The opposition also organized protests on the eve of the swearing of Maduro and of such an event, Realdo Araujo was seized.
According to the Venezuelan prison observatory, hundreds of protesters were arrested in the days leading to Maduro’s inauguration and sent to prison, known for the abuse of the detainees.

The wife of G -N -Tudares says that no information was provided about her husband’s location as he was taken away by the security forces on January 7th.
She also accused the government of holding her husband to put pressure on Edmundo Gonzalez, who lives in exile and meets presidents in the region, many of whom recognized him as a legitimate leader of Venezuela.
