Ghetto imagesAt the New York Police Department (NYPD), a helicopter crashed into the Hudson River and killed all six people on board.
This is a very active investigation, but here’s what we know so far about the fatal disaster:
New York Police Commissioner Jessica Tish gave some details about the fatal helicopter trip.
She said the helicopter was operated by helicopters in New York and took off from the center of Skyport on the underside of Manhattan at 14:59 local time (19:59 BST).
According to the popular real -time flight tracking website, Flightradar24, the helicopter was in the air for about 15 minutes.

He started his route aimed at the Statue of Freedom and headed north to the George Washington Bridge.
The helicopter was then spinning down Hudson along New Jersey’s side and dive into the Hudson River near Kay in Hobken, New Jersey, at 15:15 local time (20:15 BST).
The helicopter was upside down when the water was hit, Tish added.
Police boats assisted the rescue efforts and Bruce Wall, who was nearby when the crash happened, described what he saw.
“He started to fall apart in the air and then the tail came down and then just turned into the air and began to fall to the ground,” he said.
There were six people on board the helicopter when he went down – including an American pilot.
According to reports, a family of two adults and three children drove a helicopter to see New York views.
The diving teams worked to restore the bodies and despite the efforts of CPR, all six people were declared dead.
Four casualties were declared dead on the spot, the other two victims were declared dead at a district hospital, officials said.
New York Mayor Eric Adams did not release the names of the victims, but said the family was from Spain.
The reason for the crash is currently being investigated and the early details are unclear.
But NYPD Commissioner Tish stated that “the plane lost control” and hit the water “just a few meters from the shore of Kay.”
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) said the helicopter is a bell 206.
Both the FAA and the National Transport Safety Council (NTSB) will investigate – with NTSB to lead the investigation.
