An Air India aircraft This was tied to London and wearing 242 people crashed seconds after the departure in West India on Thursday, killing everyone except one on board Boeing 787 Dreamliner.
The crash died at least 270 people in GujaratEmployees reported on Saturday.
He marked the first catastrophe of the Boeing 787 Dreamliner and has been the most deadly plane crash in years.
Here’s what to know:
The plane was Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner. This is a popular jet with double ayla used for longer routes.
The first flight of this aircraft was in December 2013 and was handed over to Air India in January 2014, according to the Cirium Aviation Data Company.
Air India had 34 of them in operation from Thursday, including this aircraft, and there were plans to order at least 20 more, Cirium said. The airline builds its own fleet with modern planes from both Boeing and rival Airbus and installs more luxury cabins.
There are more than 1,100 Dreamliners that fly around the world.
Preliminary data show that the aircraft signal was lost at 13:38 local time, less than a minute after take off from Ahmedabad’s International Airport Sardar Valabhai Patel, according to Flightradar24 Airport.
The aircraft reached a maximum altitude of 625 feet, although the height of the airport is about 200 feet, noted Flightradar.
It is not clear why the plane has lost the altitude so quickly before it crashes into a fiery ball in a residential area. Other casualties have been reported on site of local media.
Air collapses can be caused by various factors, from mechanical problems to the wild to a pilot error and often include more than one problem.
The respondents will combine the ruins for the so -called black boxes: the cabins and records of the flight data. These will give streets to investigative crashes about what is happening in the flight.
Investigators will look at everything from the airline maintenance records to the pilots maneuver, the position of the aircraft, as well as slats and flaps of the wings, weight and configuration of the airplane, the workouts of the pilots and the recent rest and the weather.
They will also look at a video from the incident, including the footage of the aircraft departing from Ahmedabad, where his equipment appeared, it seems that it remains after the departure, which is extremely common, pilots told large airlines to CNBC.
According to international protocols, the country in which the incident happened will lead the investigation while the airplane manufacturer, Boeing and the manufacturer of the aircraft, GE aerospace spaceAs well as federal investigators of US crashes will participate.
It is not clear immediately and a final report on the causes of the crash may not be available until next year, but some experts have discarded a production problem, partly because the aircraft has been flying for more than a decade.
“I do not think this is a problem with production or production,” said Jeff Gutseti, a retired air safety investigator at the National Transport Safety Council and the Federal Aviation Administration.
He said it was too early to say what the problem was – or the problems – since air crashes often involve several damage.
“It seems that the plane came off the track without a problem, but for some reason it failed to climb,” he said.
Boeing had had problems with Dreamliner before, but the immediate relationship was not obvious, experts said.
Last year, a whistle is said to have taken Boeing Shortcuts of 787 To reduce the difficulties and create “excessive stress” on the main aircraft joints. Boeing denied the allegations.
The supplies of the aircraft were also grounded for about a year until mid -2022 due to production defects in which parts of the fuselage were disposed incorrectly.
After Dreamliner first came to service in 2011, the planes were grounded for inspections due to fear of lithium battery fires.
Boeing CEO Kelly OrtbergWhoever took the reins last August works to move the manufacturer, a top exporter of the United States, outside the light of the floodlights for a series of safety and production crises.
The company was already spreading from two crashes from its most selling 737 maximum jets when the door plug burst out of a new Max 9 in early 2024.
The impact on Boeing will depend on the investigation of the crash. The demand for new aircraft is still stable and the airlines often continue to place orders as the waiting period can extend for several years.
Wolfe Research said on a note on Thursday that “we do not see a very direct impact on financial results, but it is certain that it will SAP Impulse until some solid clarity is provided.
“We do not see any impact on the production ramp as a result, and we would also expect the impact on the demand to be very minimal (and localized),” Wolfe wrote. “The modest risk can be any feedback on certification of (still certified) 777X, but it is too early to sized every risk there.”
Boeing has orders for another 900 Dreamliners, according to its website.
