BBC Daniela Relph Royal Correspondent appreciates the importance and symbolism of King Charles to Canada, where he will open Parliament in Ottawa – following the footsteps of his mother Queen Elizabeth, who fulfills the same obligation in 1957.
This is also an important trip for the new Canada Prime Minister, Mark Carney, who has dealt with tariff whip and negotiations on annexation from US President Donald Trump.
Carney will hope the King’s visit to strengthen the connections with the United Kingdom and to show the sovereignty of his country.
