Range/distribution through ReutersSix crew members have been rescued and at least three other killed after a cargo ship was attacked by Yemen’s Yumen and sunk in the Red Sea, says a European naval mission.
The Liberian flag, at the Greek eternity, wore 25 crews when it caused significant damage and lost any drive after being struck by rocket grenades fired by small boats on Monday, according to the UK’s Marine Operations Agency (UKMTO).
The attack continued on Tuesday and the search operations began overnight.
Iran -supported by Iran Hutis said they had attacked eternity with, as it headed for Israel and that they had taken an unspecified number of crews to a “safe place”.
The US Embassy in Yemen said Huti “abducted many surviving crew members” and called for their immediate release.
Authorities in the Philippines said 21 of the crew were citizens. Another of them is a Russian citizen who was seriously injured in the attack and lost his leg.
This is the second ship Hutiis has been sunk for a week after the group on Sunday launched rockets and drones into another, evaporated on a Greek cargo ship, Magic Seas, which they claimed to “belong (ED) of a company that violates the prohibition of entry into the ports of occupied Palestinian.”
Video footage released by Hutiis on Tuesday showed that armed men were boarding the ship and putting a series of explosions that made him sink.
All 22 crews of magic seas were safely rescued by a passing merchant ship.
Since November 2023, Hutiis have been targeting about 70 merchant ships with rockets, drones and small boat attacks in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden.
Four ships have already sank, seized the heel and killed at least seven crew members.
The group said it was acting in support of the Palestinians in the war between Israel and Hamas in Gaza and claims – often false – that they were targeted at ships related only to Israel, the United States or the United Kingdom, who had made air strikes of Yemen in response.
EPAOn Wednesday, the EU Naval Mission in the Red Sea, Aspides Operation, said it was participating in the international response to the attack on Eternity C and that “six members of the Castaway crew have been restored from the sea.”
An aspides employee told AFP news agency that five are Filipinos and one is an Indian, and that 19 others are still gone.
Greece -based maritime security company Diaplous released a video on Wednesday, which showed the rescue of at least five sailors, who they thought had spent more than 24 hours in the water, according to the Reuters Agency.
“We will continue to look for the rest of the crew until the last light,” Diapher said.
Reuters also cites marine security companies, saying the death rate is four.
The US Department of State has condemned the attacks on magic seas and eternity with which it is said that “demonstrates the constant threat that Iran -backed by Iran rebels Huti represents the freedom of navigation and for regional economic and maritime security.”
“The United States is clear: we will continue to take the necessary actions to protect the freedom of navigation and commercial shipping from Huti’s terrorist attacks, which must be convicted by all members of the international community.”
In May, Hutiis agreed to a deal to end the fire after seven weeks of strengthening US blows in response to attacks on international shipping.
However, they said the agreement did not include the termination of the attacks on Israel, which held numerous circles of retaliatory strikes on Yemen.
The Secretary -General of the International Marine Organization (IMO) has called for increased diplomatic efforts after the new wave of attacks.
“After a few months of calm, the resumption of lazy attacks in the Red Sea is a renewed violation of international law and freedom of navigation,” said Arsenio Doming.
“Innocent sailors and the local population are the main victims of these attacks and the pollution they cause,” he warned.
